The B10 3.5 is based on a 6 Series platform that's heavily modified in every department, from the suspension and chassis to the inline-six engine and transformed the 635CSi into a street machine that beat up supercars of the era. While most came with a traditional manual transmission, a few were fitted with a Getrag automatic, this car being one of them.
This is an original UK-spec BMW 635CSi B10 Alpina is sought after and rare. It was converted from new by Sytner of Nottingham and comes with a letter of authenticity to prove it. It was completely rebuilt incorporating mechanical and cosmetic updates. The exterior features heavily revised front and rear spoilers, upgraded front lighting, special badging, and body-side decals. The B10 3.5 utilized a specific Alpina-Bilstein suspension system with progressive springs and gas-pressure dampers. 16″ Alpina alloy wheels carried 205/55 series tires at the front and 225/50s at the rear. Brakes were updated ventilated discs with unique calipers at all four corners. The revised interior features bolstered Recaro sport seats front and rear, a Momo leather-wrapped steering wheel, and high-quality carpeting, mats, and headliner material. The engine is based on the BMW 3.5-liter inline-six. Alpina added high-compression Mahle pistons, connecting rods, and a specially prepared crankshaft. The camshaft was replaced with a unique design that optimized low-end torque, while both ignition and fuel injection timing were revised to match the new internals. A modified cylinder head, combustion chamber, and freer-flowing exhaust system allowed the motor to produce 261 horsepower when new, enough to propel the car to a top speed of 155 mph.
This specific car was fitted with an automatic transmission. It’s painted black, rather than the usual blue, and its livery is silver, rather than the usual gold. So it’s a special looking car, even for an ALPINA. It looks good though and properly sporty. Those 16″ wheels also look perfect, even if a bit small by today’s standards.
This is a very special car. It’s rare, good looking and has great performance. The car is in a running condition but further recommissioning will be required to bring the car up to the standard it deserves. It is just the sort of machine that could well prove a solid purchase for someone with an eye to the future. Offered with a partial service file from new, as well as the original manuals, booklets and factory tools.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY:
Alpina started in the mid-1960s as the purveyor of tuning accessories. By the time the first cars were built they were a sophisticated entity and put together as a complete package by Alpina or, uniquely, by Sytner in Britain who assemble all the right-hand drive models. Alpina had only a brief flirtation with turbo charging because the company believed it lacked the refinement, which its increasingly demanding customers wanted. Today, the name is synonymous not only with high performance, but also with the very highest standards of engineering. Alpina works very closely with BMW, and many special Alpina parts are now actually made by the suppliers who manufacture BMWs standard production equivalents. Since 1983 Alpina has been recognized by the German Federal Ministry of Transport as an automobile manufacturer, thus Alpina-built cars are branded and registered as Alpina instead of BMW, although an Alpina can be bought and serviced at some BMW dealerships, and covered if there is a warranty issue. Distinctive features of Alpina vehicles are 20-spoke alloy wheels, "Alpina Blue" patented metallic paint, in addition to expensive interior materials used to fabricate the exclusive interior appointments.
A typical blue and green pattern is often used on interior parts such as stitching's on leather and different fabrics used in the upholstery. A thin, pinstriped style outside body decor set in gold or silver is also a hallmark of Alpina cars. A metal plate inside also proves the heritage and the serial number of the car.
