This "carbureted" engined hardtop Pininfarina Ferrari 308 GTB is a fantastic sports car, and is sure to put a huge smile on your face each time you get behind the wheel and open up that throttle.
The Ferrari 308 GTB Berlinetta and targa topped 308 GTS are V8 mid-engined, 2-seater sports cars manufactured by Ferrari from 1975 to 1985. The 308 replaced the Dino 246 GT and GTS in 1975 and was updated as the 328 in 1985.
The 308 had a tube frame with separate body. The 308 GTB/GTS and GT4 were mechanically similar, and also shared much with the original Dino. Both 308s sit on the same tube platform, however the GT4—being a 2+2—has a longer wheelbase. The engine was a V8 of a 90 degree configuration, with belt-driven twin overhead camshafts per cylinder bank. It was transversely mounted in unit with the transaxle transmission assembly, which was below and to the rear of the engine's sump. All models used a fully synchromesh 5-speed manual and a clutch-type limited slip differential. Suspension was all-independent, comprising double wishbones, coaxial coil springs and hydraulic dampers, and anti-roll bars on both axles; four wheel vented disc brakes were also fitted. Steering was unassisted rack and pinion.
The 308's body was designed by Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti, who had been responsible for some of Ferrari's most celebrated shapes to date such as the Daytona, the Dino and the Berlinetta Boxer. The 308 used elements of these shapes to create something very much in contrast with the angular GT4. GTS models featured a removable roof panel with grained satin black finish, which could be stowed in a vinyl cover behind the seats when not in use.

Part of the Classic Insider fleet, this superbly restored Right Hand Drive and rare Carbureted GTB coupe example is showing 2 previous owners on the HK VRD. This 308 is the last of line Carbureted Berlinetta. The car was originally delivered in 1981 in the UK, bought by the first HK owner and imported to Hong Kong in 2012. The car was sold by Classic Insider to the 2nd owner in 2018 and subsequently added to the Classic Insider fleet in 2023.
Throughout its life it has been annually serviced and maintained. In 2018, the then new owner embarked on a year long restoration project performed by a marque specialist in 2019. It was an "Engine-out" mechanical overhaul with all major areas of the engine, belts, clutch, cooling, ignition, suspension, brakes, fuel system, body and interior renewed. From 2021 onwards, the car has been maintained by the authorized Hong Kong Ferrari dealer where cam and timing belts, engine gaskets and major electrical such as the fuse box and alternator were changed. In 2023, further work was done by Classic Insider, original parts were sourced and installed with the aim to return the car to a fully "original" state. At the same time a paint refresh, engine, underbody and interior cleanup was performed. All auxiliaries such as A/C, Radio, Antenna were restored to working order. This example is ready to enter a new stable.

CONDITION REPORT:
Restored Original. Well-kept and maintained. The exterior was just restored and repainted. Paint and body is in excellent condition. Brand new 308 alloy wheels were installed along with brand new tires. The previously restored interior was further cleaned up, the seats, dash, carpets and door cards are in good shape. The radio and antenna are in working order, so is the ice-cold air condition, a rare luxury in any 308. Mechanically excellent, engine-out overhaul has been completed and dealer maintained since then. The engine bay is steam cleaned and tidied up. The refurbished engine's got new belts, steering, clutch, cooling, ignition, suspension, brakes, fuel system, intake and exhaust. Key, spare key, duplicate Owner's Manual, Service Book, Jack and tool presented.
