The SL model has been part of the Mercedes-Benz line-up since 1954. The first generation of cars was completed in 1955 with the 190. The second generation began with the 230 in 1963 and was distinguished by its distinctive optional hardtop that earned the model its nickname ‘Pagoda top’. The factory codename for the SL launched in 1971 was R107. The Mercedes-Benz R107 and C107 were produced from 1971 through 1989, being the second longest single series ever produced by the automaker, after the G-Class. They were sold under the SL (R107) and SLC (C107) model names as the 280 SL, 280 SLC, 300 SL, etc. up to the 560 SL.
The SL Series 107, released in 1971 as the successor to the Pagoda (W113 series), established a new design line at Mercedes-Benz with the broadband H4 headlamps and the large fluted taillights. The appearance of the R107 was stylistic for the Mercedes-Benz design in the 70s. The R107 took the chassis components of the mid size Mercedes-Benz W114 model and mated them to the larger engines from the S-Class (W116).
Today, we are delighted to offer for sale this stunning 300 SL which was first registered in Hong Kong in 1989 and presents very well and exudes elegance with white exterior in combination with the black leather trim. A very original and authentic copy, the car is powered by the more powerful and efficient 2962CC 6 cylinder engine in combination with the automatic gearbox, this is a rare find.

CONDITION REPORT:
Original. Well-kept and consistently maintained. The bodywork is in a good condition with good paintwork and chrome details. Slight deterioration spotted under the side sills but not very serious. New rear view mirror set and front chrome grill. The rather good condition of this original Hong Kong example is a credit to the previous owner who invested in a complete new paint and new convertible top to keep it beautiful. Slight rash on the wheel surface but otherwise scratch free and shod with 2020 tires. The Interior looks original, down to the radio, but unknown to the naked eye, the original looking unit was modified to accept Bluetooth wireless airplay. The air condition may need a freon recharge. Seats, dash, carpets and door cards showing slight wear and tear, but largely looks very good for the age. Always serviced and mechanically excellent. The seller did mention a slow leak in the power steering rack. The engine bay is kept clean and tidy. Service record shows the car being consistently serviced. Spare wheel and Jack are present.
