1990 BMW Z1 RHD

1990 BMW Z1 with Five Speed Manual Transmission

PRICE: 988K HKD

THIS MOTOR CAR

The Z1 is unique for its plastic body panels and vertically sliding doors which drop into the door sills. It is one of the first BMWs to use a multi-link rear suspension. The sole drivetrain specification is the 2.5-litre straight-six engine and 5-speed manual transmission from the E30 325i.

This Z1 was a unique factory converted Right Hand Drive, imported by BMW Australia for the Sydney Auto show to evaluate the market for future production. Finished in Solar Orange, believed to be one of only three Z1 finished in this BMW Individual Colorway originally intended for the BMW M1. Factory RHD never made it into production and LHD Z1 stopped production at 8,000 cars due to the energy crisis in 1990s.

After the car show, the then MD of BMW Australia purchased the car from the company and gifted it to his wife. The current keeper learned about this unique RHD car and chased after the Australian BMW MD for several years & finally made him an offer to he couldn’t refuse upon his retirement.

Imported and registered in Hong Kong since 2011, the car subsequently received a nut-and-bolt restoration by BMW Hong Kong. Serveral concourse awards were given to this Z1 over the years by the Classic Car Club of Hong Kong. This well kept and consistantly maintained gem is now looking for a new home.
