For anyone seeking a stunning performance cabriolet with manual transmission this exceptional car will please most enthusiast.
An instant classic, the 993 generation of the Porsche 911 is now highly sought after. As the last of the air-cooled 911s, they are the most developed of the original formula that first appeared in 1963. The layout of the instruments, the sheetmetal of the door, and the entire greenhouse is fundamentally unchanged from the original 911, and these cars have a feeling of solidity and craftsmanship that was not only missing from the 996 generation that replaced the 993, but is missing from almost every car made in the last 20 years.
Yet despite this old-world craftsmanship and the occasional sign that the fundamental architecture dates back to the 1960s, the 993 is impressively modern, even 25 years after its introduction. The sophisticated multilink rear suspension and massive rear tires make the rear placement of the engine a non-issue, while the twin plug 3.6 liter flat-6 is a torquey high-performance unit that is both tractable and full of character. The brakes, always a Porsche strong suit, are superb, and the gearbox is Porsche's robust 6-speed G50 unit. Sophisticated and high performing but also capturing the essence of the original 911, the 993 is the best of both worlds. 993s are true classics that can be driven and enjoyed daily in modern traffic.
The 911 Carrera 2 Cabriolet shown here offers the dynamic purity of the rear wheel drive platform with the thrill of open air motoring, and in this case, the joy of shifting Porsche’s wonderful 6-speed manual transaxle. This car was originally in Aventuragreen, delivered by Jebsen Hong Kong and first registered in May 1994. Today, it looks fantastic in Black, with Black leather interior, a Black Convertible top and 993 Turbo Style Wheels. An original factory six-speed manual car, this example has a huge history file, documenting over 10 years of maintenance history by Porsche dealer as well as external specialist.
The car starts instantly, the clutch and gearbox work in perfect harmony, owing in part to the recently rebuilt engine and transmission afforded on this car. The motor provides a wonderful induction roar and the performance is genuinely remarkable. Especially when the top is lowered and the windows down, the sporty exhaust provides an exhilarating aural experience. The chassis is composed, tight, and authentic. The suspension responds much in the tradition of the 911, good grip and composure. The brakes offer a firm pedal feel and remain some the easiest to modulate and most intuitive to heel & toe.
This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-preserved and handsome Porsche Carrera Cabriolet, ready for enjoyable driving or simply admiring as the last of the great air-cooled engineering marvels of the 20th century.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY:
The Porsche 993 was introduced in 1993 as a replacement for the 964 generation of the iconic 911 model and was built until 1998.
The 993 marked the end of an era for Porsche, since it was the latest air cooled model they ever produced. The 993 generation of the 911 is often referred to as the best and most desirable of the 911 series, not only because of its beauty, but also because its performance is very good, even by modern standards, and the 993 was the last complete 'modern classic'. The 993 is elegance and muscle all in one package.
The 993 was offered in a number of guises and specifications during its production life including two and four wheel drive trains, known as Carrera and Carrera 4 respectively. The 993 was the first generation 911 to have standard six-speed manual transmission. The Carrera, Carrera S, Cabriolet and Targa models (2WD) were available with a Tiptronic four-speed automatic transmission which was first introduced in the 964
The 993 was replaced by the Porsche 996. This represented a dramatic change for Porsche. As many enthusiasts agree, the 993 is one of the sweetest spots in the 911's half-century of existence.
