A super rare Ferrari. 1 of ONLY 50 made 348 GT Competizione. Only 8 Right Hand Drive in the world.
In 1993 the ultimate street Ferrari 348 was built. In order to complete in the international GT3 class 50 348 GTC had to be made in a more potent and racier version. It was called the Ferrari 348 GT Competizione or 348 GTC in short and was the last and most extreme version made of the 348's.
The engine turned out 320 bhp, body parts like doors, sill panels, bumpers and seats were lightened using Kevlar or carbon fibre composite. These cars could also be identified by their Speedline wheelsand Kevlar race seats. The interior were stripped down from all un-necessities like carpeting and leather upholstery, making the cars lot lighter than their normal Ferrari 348 TB/TS siblings. More subtle accents were the drilled aluminium pedals and Ferrari 348 GT Competizione inscription on the back of the car.
The 50 cars made, 42 LHD, 8 RHD also came with enamelled Scuderia Ferrari shields on the side fender, little recessed into the front wings they remind of the other special series build by Ferrari, the 288 GTO and the legendary F40.
The car Classic Insider is offering, is one of the eight right hand drive car. Like the F40, the Competizione features a Kevlar/carbonfibre composite to cut weight. The doors feel featherlight in your hands and the exposed weave runs across the sills and the bucket seat backs. The brakes are from the F40 Evoluzione, while the front and rear bumpers are composite. More focused springs and dampers, and a rod rather than a cable gear shift, deliver more immediate feedback. The 18-inch Speedline alloys are also lighter than the standard 348’s 17-inch rims which contribute to a total 190kg weight saving over the GTB. Bear in mind that a 360 Challenge Stradale shaved 110kg over the standard car, a 430 Scuderia 100kg and a 458 Speciale 90kg. The Competizione is, in some ways, the most extreme V8 special of the bunch.
While the classic Ferrari bubble probably doesn't need any further massaging, it does seem like the Competizione is still largely in the shadow. If you want a taste of classic and raw Ferrari without paying millions, this could be a winner.
