The MGB GT with automatic transmission is a great choice for those who want a classic sports car that is easy to drive and maintain. With its timeless design and smooth automatic transmission, the MGB GT is sure to turn heads and provide a fun and enjoyable driving experience for years to come.
Pininfarina was appointed to create a coupe version of the hugely successful MGB roadster. Introduced in 1965 the MGB GT was one of the earliest examples of the now popular hatchback car and the large load platform for luggage made the GT a really useful two-seat touring car. Although the coupe bodywork made the GT much heavier than the Roadster, its shape actually helped the performance with improved aerodynamics and gave the GT a slightly higher top speed than the Roadster and also an improvement in handling.
While the MGB GT is typically known for its manual transmission, there were only a handful (1285 units) that was produced with an automatic transmission like this one we are offering. The automatic transmission option provided a more relaxed driving experience for those who preferred it. It was powered by the same 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine that produced 85 horsepower and 103 lb-ft of torque as in the MGB. The automatic transmission was Borg Warner three-speed unit that provided smooth and effortless shifting. The MGB GT with automatic transmission was also equipped with power brakes and power steering, making it easy to handle and control.
One of the advantages of owning an MGB GT is the potential to upgrade and fine-tune the car to the owner's individual tastes. The MGB GT had a good-sized luggage area under the rear door, making it a practical car for everyday use and it is a rare find compared to the standard MGB roadster, which makes it a desirable car for collectors. The MGB GT's stunning lines and classic body style, highlighted by shiny bumpers and a pretty grille, make it an iconic British sports car that is still admired today.
