1988 Mercedes Benz 560 SEC Coupe with Automatic Transmission
The new GT coupé appeared in 1981 and was based on the S-Class platform, with the wheelbase shortened by 10cm (4in). Aesthetically, the SEC banked on being different, with a completely new rectangular radiator grille and a very distinctive appearance. It had taut lines, the body was lower and details such as the pillarless side windows added a touch of elegance.
Mercedes aimed the car primarily at the high-end market and offered only V8 engines. The 560 SEC was therefore the top-of-the-range model. The interior offered a regal standard of comfort, with four proper seats and an impressive level of equipment for the period. The Mercedes 560 SEC stands out as the perfect blend of comfort, elegance and performance.
CLASSIC INSIDER CONDITION SCORE: 85 out of 100 points
Very Original. Fully Restored inside and out. The Exterior paint is very good with minor fault on trims and a few blemishes such as door dings on edge are noted. The body shows no sign of rust. All windows are in good condition and seals are fresh. Front tires are brand new ones from 2019 but rear are from 2017. Mounted on upgraded period AMG split rims. They have slightly tarnished clear coat on the outer lips, a commonly found issue, but otherwise unmarked. The Interior is in exceptional condition. Nothing to fault about the seats, roof lining, door-card and carpets. Other than the non-functional passenger side seat belt assist "arm", everything else in working order. The car starts and idles smoothly. The hood and engine bay is clean and tidy. Spare wheel, Jack and tools supplied, but no owner's manual. Road Tax till August 2021.
