1979 Nissan S130 200Z Fairlady 2+2
Nissan S130 200Z Fairlady 2+2
The Nissan Z-car is a sports car by Nissan Motors Ltd for six generations since 1969. The Nissan S130 shown here, is the 2nd second generation Fairlady Z produced from 1978 to 1983, replacing the Nissan S30 in late 1978. Hugely popular in the USA, the 280ZX was Motor Trend's import car of the year for 1979.
This pristine, highly original 1979 Japanese Domestic Market Only Nissan S130 200Z is one of the most immaculate classic Fairlady you'll find on the market today. Originally delivered in Japan in 1979 and after 40 years of tender loving care, has only 70,000km on the clock. The car was sourced from Japan by its previous owner, a big Z enthusiast, self-imported and registered in Hong Kong in 2015.
The "raison d'etre" for the purchase was actually a fascinating story. The previous owner's childhood dream car was a Red S130 Fairlady driven by an antagonist character 韓彬 cast by Simon Yam Tat Wah 任達華 in a hugely popular TVB Police Fiction《新紮師兄》in the 80s. Determined to fulfill his dream, he found a good condition Red 200Z in a Japanese car auction site and proceed to bid for it. Unfortunately his bid didn't meet the reserve and the car was returned to the owner.
The dream was shattered and the idea was all but forgotten, until one day, the same red car showed up in front of a hotel in Japan where he stayed for vacation! Upon enquiry, he found out that the car belongs to the hotel owner. The dream was re-ignited and this time, he is determined to "take the lady home". For three consecutive days, he tried to convince the owner to sell it to him but was being refused. Finally on the fourth, and last day of his stay, the Hotel owner was finally moved by his persistency and agreed to the deal.
The car was shipped and registered in Hong Kong in 2015. To create the perfect replica, the owner applied for the license mark "DD 3067" at Government auction, then he went on to give the car a paint make-over (from deep red to bright red) to match the one from the show. After 3 years of enjoyment, it was time for the Z to find a new home and just like before, the car has found its righteous custodian. In early 2018, the car was featured in a "video shoot-out" about 3 Nissan Fairlady and coincidentally the editor for the story at the time was also a big Fairlady fan. A quick hand shake was all it took and the Fairlady has a new home.
Since the new owner took over, the car underwent a thorough inspection by a classic specialist and subsequently embarked on a restoration journey. All the original interior components were refreshed, air condition restored. The hard to source original radio was installed and all areas of wheels, suspension, brakes, engine, cooling and exhaust were restored. This car is an unrepeatable opportunity to own what could be one of the best condition S130 ‘Z’ cars in Hong Kong. This fantastic car is a rare find ready for preserving, and will make for a very rewarding and straightforward choice for the car collector on a budget. Don’t miss out on the chance to own this pristine Nissan ‘Z'
